Redemption Songs Hymnal

From my early days in Evangelical Christianity, I always loved religious music and back then one of my favorite hymnals (and still is today) is Redemption Songs. It incorporated the Victorian feeling of joy at the idea of “Jesus” defined as a spirit or Spirit man, entering the human heart and convicting you of your sins, leaving you in a state of mixed emotions, fear, superiority, joy and at times controlled ecstasy. I often wonder how much they knew of Science – clearly nothing by the amount of arguments and politics in these little churches but the songs gave a very clear message that somebody knew something about life changing experiences.
