COMPLINE – Night Prayer

=================================================================

INTRODUCTION
“Father is man’s divine Principle, Love. Son is God’s man —His image or spiritual likeness. Holy Ghost is Divine Science, the Messiah or Comforter. Jesus in the flesh was the prophet or way shower to Life, Truth, and Love, and out of the flesh Jesus was the Christ, the spiritual idea, or image and likeness of God.”
Mary Baker Eddy

Declaration of Consciousness
God is all. There is no other Truth

Hymn
Angels wings are all embracing,
With the thoughts of him above,
Holy arms they lift us higher,
To the Throne of Grace and Love.
Gently resting on those feathers,
In the warmth of their embrace,
Rising up our minds from shadows,
To a place of ever Faith.
Like a swan who treads the river,
With her babes not far behind,
A group of Angels soaring upwards,
To raise the thoughts of all mankind.
Yet still within the bliss we protest,
Mistaking pain for downward flight,
Still each thorn it sends us soaring,
Like a child with upward kite
O blessed Angels pointing skyward,
Are Life’s tests which rest with me,
Taking me forever higher,
Rising upward by decree.
Without the pain we cannot reach him,
However long? We cannot say,
Long slender fingers promise rebirth,
But first the sins must die away.

Psalm 85 (86)
R: You are abounding in love
{85:1} A Prayer of David himself. Incline your ear, O Lord, and hear me. For I am needy and poor.
{85:2} Preserve my soul, for I am holy. My God, bring salvation to your servant who hopes in you.
{85:3} O Lord, be merciful to me, for I have cried out to you all day long.
{85:4} Give joy to the soul of your servant, for I have lifted up my soul to you, Lord.
{85:5} For you are sweet and mild, Lord, and plentiful in mercy to all who call upon you.
{85:6} Pay attention, Lord, to my prayer, and attend to the voice of my supplication.
{85:7} In the day of my tribulation, I cried out to you, because you heeded me.
{85:8} There is no one like you among the gods, O Lord, and there is no one like you in your works.
{85:9} All the nations, which you have made, will draw near and adore in your presence, O Lord. And they will glorify your name.
{85:10} For you are great, and you perform wonders. You alone are God.
{85:11} Lead me, O Lord, in your way, and I will walk in your truth. May my heart rejoice, so that it will fear your name.
{85:12} I will confess to you, O Lord my God, with my whole heart. And I will glorify your name in eternity.
{85:13} For your mercy toward me is great, and you have rescued my soul from the lower part of Hell.
{85:14} O God, the iniquitous have risen up against me, and the synagogue of the powerful have sought my soul, and they have not placed you in their sight.
{85:15} And you, Lord God, are compassionate and merciful, being patient and full of mercy and truthful.
{85:16} Look down upon me and have mercy on me. Grant your authority to your servant, and bring salvation to the son of your handmaid.
{85:17} Make me a sign of what is good, so that those who hate me, may look and be confounded. For you, O Lord, have helped me and consoled me.
R: You are abounding in love

Reading
1 Thessalonians 5:9-10
{5:9} For God has not appointed us for wrath, but for the acquisition of salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
{5:10} who died for us, so that, whether we watch, or whether we sleep, we may live in union with him.

Canticle Nunc Dimittis
Luke 2:  29-32
{2:29} “Now you may dismiss your servant in peace, O Lord, according to your word.
{2:30} For my eyes have seen your salvation,
{2:31} which you have prepared before the face of all peoples:
{2:32} the light of revelation to the nations and the glory of your people Israel.”
Taken from Science and health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy

Our Father which art in heaven,
Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious,

Hallowed be Thy name.
Adorable One.

Thy kingdom come.
Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever-present.

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Enable us to know, — as in heaven, so on earth, —
God is omnipotent, supreme.

Give us this day our daily bread;
Give us grace for to-day; feed the famished affections;

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And Love is reflected in love;

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;
And God leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth
us from sin, disease, and death.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.
For God is infinite, all-power, all Life, Truth, Love,
over all, and All.

Hail Father Mother,
In Fullness,
Ever With Us
Ever Blessing Man
with the Christ
Ever Present
Tender and Strong
With Grace for Today
Infinite Love and PowerHere now

Love yearns and draws all people close to it´s flame

Poem

Be gone ye terrors of the night,
unreal, sadness things of fright,
Always in my highest right
I live in Mind as Love´s delight
No more power has the dream
of lonely suffering extreme
Always in my highest right
I live in Spirit,  Love´s delight
Stories, tales of lands explored
Mortal dreams of lands of yore
Always in my highest right
My life is Soul, as Love´s delight
Left behind upon a shore
Death cannot touch, no , nevermore
Always in my highest right
In Principle, as Love´s delight
Time honoured systems, fall from  grace
Never more to be replaced
Always in my highest right
Living Life, as Love´s delight
Sons and Daughters take the charge
When consumed by powers at large
Always in your highest right
Live in Truth, as Love´s delight!
Faced with sadness and despair
Silence foes with Silent Prayer
Always in your highest right
Live in Love,  as Love´s  delight!

Love yearns and draws all people close to it´s flame

Psalm 91.

1 He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High.

will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.

Father Mother, encompassing all.

2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust.”

Love, completeness

3 For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler

and from the deadly pestilence.

Love yearns for purity of thought

4 He will cover you with his pinions,

and under his wings you will find refuge;

his jfaithfulness is a shield and buckler.

Love´s Dwelling

5 You will not fear the terror of the night,

nor the arrow that flies by day,

6 nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,

nor the destruction that wastes at noonday.

There is none like you in whom I have my being

7 A thousand may fall at your side,

ten thousand at your right hand,

but it will not come near you.

Infinite, without number

8 You will only look with your eyes

and see the recompense of the wicked.

Incorporeal

9 Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place

the Most High, who is my refuge.

Our Home

10 no evil shall be allowed to befall you,

no plague come near your tent.

Structure of Truth and Love

11 For he will command his angels concerning you

to guard you in all your ways.

Our Provider

12 On their hands they will bear you up,

lest you strike your foot against a stone.

Our Protection

13 You will tread on the lion and the adder;

the young lion and the serpent you will trample underfoot.

Defender of Spiritual Truth.

14 “Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him;

I will protect him, because he knows my name.

Cause and Creator

15 When he calls to me, I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble;

I will rescue him and honor him.

Reflecting Love

16 With long life I will satisfy him

and show him my salvation.”

Immortal Harmonious Love.

Love yearns and draws all people close to it´s flame

The definition of Trinity (Glory be etc…prayer) from Judge Hanna, CS journal July 1915.

“In response to a request, it was the writer’s privilege to receive from Mrs. Eddy a definition of the Trinity which has never been published in the exact words in which this one is couched. Feeling that it will be helpful in connection with the purpose of this article, this definition is here given: “Father is man’s divine Principle, Love. Son is God’s man —His image or spiritual likeness. Holy Ghost is Divine Science, the Messiah or Comforter. Jesus in the flesh was the prophet or wayshower to Life, Truth, and Love, and out of the flesh Jesus was the Christ, the spiritual idea, or image and likeness of God.” ”

From Science and Health 1898 Edition

“The heavenly law is broken by trespassing upon man’s individual right of self-government. We have no authority in Christian Science, and no moral right, to attempt to influence the thoughts of another, except it be to benefit him, or we are personally requested to give  him aid. In mental practice you must not forget that erring human opinions, conflicting selfish motives, and ignorant attempts to do good often render you incapable of knowing or judging accurately the needs of your fellow-men. Therefore this need must be personally expressed, and your aid solicited, before it is silently imparted to patients or people.

Ignorance, subtlety, and false charity do not forever conceal error; it will in time disclose and kill itself. The Exposure. recuperative action of the system, when mentally sustained by Truth, goes on naturally. When the reverse of Truth seems true to material sense, impart spiritual understanding, which destroys false evidence without frightening or discouraging the patient. Expose and denounce the claim of evil, in all its forms, but acknowledge no reality in them. A sinner is not reformed merely by assuring him that he cannot be a sinner, because there is no sin. To put down the claim of sin you must detect it, remove the mask, point out the illusion, and thus get the victory over sin, and prove its unreality.

A sinner is afraid to cast the first stone. He may say, as a subterfuge, that evil is unreal; but to prove it, he must demonstrate his statement. To assume there are no claims of evil, and yet indulge them, is a moral offence. Blindness and self-righteousness cling fast to iniquity. When the Publican’s wail went out to the great heart of Love, it won his humble desire. Evil which obtains in the bodily senses, but which the heart condemns, has no foundation; but if evil is uncondemned, it is undenied. Under such circumstances, to say there is no evil, is an evil in itself. Evasion of Truth cripples integrity, and casts thee down from the pinnacle”.

Ave Maria (scientific Interpretation)

Night Prayer 31 August 2018

“Tonight I am well and at peace – I have rest that all is well in God”

Psalm 4

Answer me when I call, O God, defender of my cause; *
you set me free when I am hard-pressed;
have mercy on me and hear my prayer.
“You mortals, how long will you dishonor my glory; *
how long will you worship dumb idols and run after false gods?”
Know that the LORD does wonders for the faithful; *
when I call upon the LORD, he will hear me.
Tremble, then, and do not sin; *
speak to your heart in silence upon your bed.
Offer the appointed sacrifices *
and put your trust in the LORD.
Many are saying, “Oh, that we might see better times!” *
Lift up the light of your countenance upon us, O LORD.
You have put gladness in my heart, *
more than when grain and wine and oil increase.
I lie down in peace; at once I fall asleep; *
for only you, LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Praise to the holy and undivided Trinity, one God: *
as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia.

PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE
Matthew 11:28-30

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

“Tonight I am well and at peace – I have rest that all is well in God”

Science and Health (1875 Edition)

p338

Mortal man is divided into five points of sensation, called personal sense; these five points constitute pleasure, pain, sin, sickness, and death; what would be left of man at the mercy of personal sense? Spirit is superior

339

to matter, and the body that is ours, should be under our control; settle the question then, which Shall be master, Soul or body, but do not think to serve both, for you cannot. Soul, owns man now and forever; let the owner of man then govern him, and the body will be harmonious and eternal. Neither a blade of grass appears, nor a spray buddeth within the vale, nor a leaf unfolds its fair outlines, nor a flower starts from its cloistered cell, without the Principle of man, even that Intelligence which the winds and sea obey, hath clone it; naught but universal Soul, that numbers the very hairs of our head, and marks the sparrow’s fall, can govern man. Sin, sickness, and death are inharmonies; they are not identity, action, or being, they are matter-beliefs, that appear and disappear, governed alone by mind, but without the reality or support of law or Spirit. That God is the law of discord, is morally impossible, or that Wisdom instituted penalties to Protect US from what is without law, except to belief, is again impossible. Wisdom never made matter to subdue Spirit; to say it did is like concluding it made Hades to get ready for sinners; but there were so many sinners they had to make their own Hells. God is too pure to behold iniquity, “in Him was Life,” etc.; and harmony never produced discord, or Life death. Goodness makes its own heaven, sin its own hell, and belief its own sufferings. A dream seemeth a reality while it lasts; a falsehood is true to those that believe it, and sickness is real to such as have it, but mind and not the body is responsible for it all. Pain and pleasure are mind, not matter; the body has no sensation of its own. Discord is unreal, harmony is real;
