READING      James 5:16,19-20

{5:16} Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be saved. For the unremitting prayer of a just person prevails over many things.

{5:19} My brothers, if anyone of you strays from the truth, and if someone converts him,
{5:20} he ought to know that whoever causes a sinner to be converted from the error of his ways will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

RESPONSORY
To you, O Lord, I make my prayer for mercy;
To you, O Lord, I make my prayer for mercy;
heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.
I make my prayer for mercy;
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
To you, O Lord, I make my prayer for mercy.

MAGNIFICAT (Canticle of Mary)

Antiphon: When the bridegroom is taken away from them, then will be the time for the wedding guests to fast.

{1:46} And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord.
{1:47} And my spirit leaps for joy in God my Savior.
{1:48} For he has looked with favor on the humility of his handmaid. For behold, from this time, all generations shall call me blessed.
{1:49} For he who is great has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
{1:50} And his mercy is from generation to generations for those who fear him.
{1:51} He has accomplished powerful deeds with his arm. He has scattered the arrogant in the intentions of their heart.
{1:52} He has deposed the powerful from their seat, and he has exalted the humble.
{1:53} He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.
{1:54} He has taken up his servant Israel, mindful of his mercy,
{1:55} just as he spoke to our fathers: to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

Antiphon: When the bridegroom is taken away from them, then will be the time for the wedding guests to fast.

INTERCESSIONS
The Savior   destroyed death and by rising again restored us.  Let us humbly ask him:

Sanctify your people, redeemed us.

Redeemer of the world, give us a share of your passion through repentance,
– so that we may share the glory.

May your Mother, comfort and protect us,
– may we console others as you help us.

In their trials enable your faithful people to find meaning in you,
– and so reveal in their lives your saving power.

You humbled yourself by being obedient even to death on a cross,
– give all who serve you  obedience and patience.

Transform us to be like your own in glory,
– and bring us at last into your presence.

Our Father…
COLLECT
Show grace to us
to the works of penance we do
that we may have strength to accomplish
what we need to do
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.

Ordinary Time

WEEK 6 – TUESDAY

Evening Prayer
Psalter, Tuesday Week II

God, come to my assistance.
– Lord, make haste to help me.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
–  as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever.
Amen. Alleluia.

HYMN

So brightly burns our Mother´s glow,
a gentle Godly light,
None can say she does not know.
The pathway through the night.
The sad and lonely wandering by,
She holds them in her arms.
Dispelling darkness by her prayers.
and sheltering them from harm.
So when the days grow dark and cold,
With dark and sinful minds,
Let us ask that light for prayer,
and blessings to mankind

PSALMODY

Antiphon 1You cannot serve two masters

Psalm 49

I
{48:1} Unto the end. A Psalm to the sons of Korah.
{48:2} Hear these things, all nations. Pay attention, all inhabitants of the world:
{48:3} whoever is earth-born, you sons of men, together as one, the rich and the poor.
{48:4} My mouth will speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart will speak prudence.
{48:5} I will incline my ear to a parable. I will open my case with the psaltery.
{48:6} Why should I fear in the evil day? The iniquity at my heel will surround me.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
–  as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever.
Amen. Alleluia.

Antiphon 1 You cannot serve two masters

Antiphon 2 Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,

II

{48:7} Those who trust in their own strength and who glory in the multitude of their riches,
{48:8} no brother redeems, nor will man buy back. He will not give to God his appeasement,
{48:9} nor the price for the redemption of his soul. And he will labor continuously,
{48:10} and he will still live, until the end.
{48:11} He will not see death, when he sees the wise dying: the foolish and the senseless will perish together. And they will leave their riches to strangers.
{48:12} And their sepulchers will be their houses forever, their tabernacles from generation to generation. They have called their names in their own lands.
{48:13} And man, when he was held in honor, did not understand. He has been compared to the senseless beasts, and he has become like them.
{48:14} This way of theirs is a scandal to them. And afterwards, they will delight in their mouth.
{48:15} They have been placed in Hell like sheep. Death will feed on them. And the just will have dominion over them in the morning. And their help will grow old in Hell for their glory.
{48:16} Even so, truly God will redeem my soul from the hand of Hell, when he will receive me.
{48:17} Do not be afraid, when a man will have been made rich, and when the glory of his house will have been multiplied.
{48:18} For when he dies, he will take nothing away, and his glory will not descend with him.
{48:19} For his soul will be blessed in his lifetime, and he will admit to you when you do good to him.
{48:20} He will even enter with the progeny of his fathers, but, even in eternity, he will not see the light.
{48:21} Man, when he was in honor, did not understand. He has been compared to the senseless beasts, and he has become like them..

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
–  as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever.
Amen. Alleluia.

Antiphon 2 Store up for yourselves treasures in heaven,

Antiphon 3 Adoration and glory belong to the lamb that was slain

Canticle  –  Revelation 4:11;5-9,10,12

{4:11} “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you have created all things, and they became and were created because of your will.”

{5:9} And they were singing a new canticle, saying: “O Lord, you are worthy to receive the book and to open its seals, because you were slain and have redeemed us for God, by your blood, from every tribe and language and people and nation.

{5:9} And they were singing a new canticle, saying: “O Lord, you are worthy to receive the book and to open its seals, because you were slain and have redeemed us for God, by your blood, from every tribe and language and people and nation.
{5:10} And you have made us into a kingdom and into priests for our God, and we shall reign over the earth.”
{5:12} saying with a great voice: “The Lamb who was slain is worthy to receive power, and divinity, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.”

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
–  as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever.
Amen. Alleluia.

Antiphon 3  Adoration and glory belong to the lamb that was slain

READING      Romans 3:21-26

{3:21} But now, without the law, the justice of God, to which the law and the prophets have testified, has been made manifest.
{3:22} And the justice of God, through the faith of Jesus Christ, is in all those and over all those who believe in him. For there is no distinction.
{3:23} For all have sinned and all are in need of the glory of God.
{3:24} We have been justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
{3:25} whom God has offered as a propitiation, through faith in his blood, to reveal his justice for the remission of the former offenses,
{3:26} and by the forbearance of God, to reveal his justice in this time, so that he himself might be both the Just One and the Justifier of anyone who is of the faith of Jesus Christ.

RESPONSORY
I shall know what joy is, when I see your face, O Lord.
– I shall know what  joy is, when I see your face, O Lord.
Fulfillment and endless peace in your presence,
– when I see your face, O Lord.
Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
– I shall know what joy is, when I see your face, O Lord.
