The lamp that lights all darkness, #catholic #poetry

The lamp that lights all darkness,
Is drawn from sorrow´s vein,
Angels tend its lonely wick,
To see its glow remain,
Its rays spark soft and gentle,
Its red bears many scars,
Hang in the sky like ruby stones,
Amidst the twinkling stars.
The Angel’s blessed scourges,
Are brought to feed the flame,
Tortures, sorrows, death and woes,
Brought in Gods holy name,
The lamp can e’er be followed.
But never can be found,
Always lighting higher paths,
Which lead to holy ground

#poem for the #eucharist #catholic

I was fortunate this morning to have a Holy Hour with the Blessed Sacrament. I wrote this poem:

Appearing on the lofty altars.
Held in boxes locked with gold.
There appears love consecrated.
a sacrifice for young and old.

Protected by the law of canon.
Brushed aside by scoffers tales.
Sits a host within a chalice
A hope for man which never fails.

Hope of hopes we find him waiting.
Man of Sorrows what a claim,
Neither fame nor fortune wanting.
Ever waiting, ever same.

Draw close to me He’s ever calling,
Lay your hurts upon my breast,
Come and spend one hour with Me,
I will give you peace and rest.

READING      James 5:16,19-20

{5:16} Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be saved. For the unremitting prayer of a just person prevails over many things.

{5:19} My brothers, if anyone of you strays from the truth, and if someone converts him,
{5:20} he ought to know that whoever causes a sinner to be converted from the error of his ways will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.

RESPONSORY
To you, O Lord, I make my prayer for mercy;
To you, O Lord, I make my prayer for mercy;
heal my soul, for I have sinned against you.
I make my prayer for mercy;
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
To you, O Lord, I make my prayer for mercy.

MAGNIFICAT (Canticle of Mary)

Antiphon: When the bridegroom is taken away from them, then will be the time for the wedding guests to fast.

{1:46} And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord.
{1:47} And my spirit leaps for joy in God my Savior.
{1:48} For he has looked with favor on the humility of his handmaid. For behold, from this time, all generations shall call me blessed.
{1:49} For he who is great has done great things for me, and holy is his name.
{1:50} And his mercy is from generation to generations for those who fear him.
{1:51} He has accomplished powerful deeds with his arm. He has scattered the arrogant in the intentions of their heart.
{1:52} He has deposed the powerful from their seat, and he has exalted the humble.
{1:53} He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty.
{1:54} He has taken up his servant Israel, mindful of his mercy,
{1:55} just as he spoke to our fathers: to Abraham and to his offspring forever.”

Antiphon: When the bridegroom is taken away from them, then will be the time for the wedding guests to fast.

INTERCESSIONS
The Savior   destroyed death and by rising again restored us.  Let us humbly ask him:

Sanctify your people, redeemed us.

Redeemer of the world, give us a share of your passion through repentance,
– so that we may share the glory.

May your Mother, comfort and protect us,
– may we console others as you help us.

In their trials enable your faithful people to find meaning in you,
– and so reveal in their lives your saving power.

You humbled yourself by being obedient even to death on a cross,
– give all who serve you  obedience and patience.

Transform us to be like your own in glory,
– and bring us at last into your presence.

Our Father…
COLLECT
Show grace to us
to the works of penance we do
that we may have strength to accomplish
what we need to do
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.

May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us to everlasting life. Amen.
