UNREALITY

Golden Text: Psalm 86-8

8 Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord; neither are there any works like unto thy works.

Responsive Reading: Psalm 63 1-9

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is;

2 To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.
3 Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.
4 Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips:
6 When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.
7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
8 My soul followeth hard after thee: thy right hand upholdeth me.
9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.

Section 1 – The Bible – Psalm 110 (111) 1-5,7
{110:1} Alleluia. I will confess to you, O Lord, with my whole heart, in the council of the just and in the congregation.
{110:2} Great are the works of the Lord, exquisite in all his intentions.
{110:3} Confession and magnificence are his work. And his justice remains from age to age.
{110:4} He has created a memorial to his wonders; he is a merciful and compassionate Lord.
{110:5} He has given food to those who fear him. He will be mindful of his covenant in every age.
{110:7} so that he may give them the inheritance of the nations. The works of his hands are truth and judgement.

1 Jesus’ life proved, divinely and scientifically, that God
is Love, whereas priest and rabbi affirmed God to be a
3 mighty potentate, who loves and hates. The Jewish the-
ology gave no hint of the unchanging love of God.
A belief in death
The universal belief in death is of no advantage. It
6 cannot make Life or Truth apparent. Death
will be found at length to be a mortal dream,
which comes in darkness and disappears with the light.
Cruel desertion
9 The “man of sorrows” was in no peril from salary or
popularity.

Section 2 – The Bible – Psalm 120 (121)
{120:1} A Canticle in steps. I have lifted up my eyes to the mountains; from thence help will come to me.
{120:2} My help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
{120:3} May he not allow your foot to be moved, and may he not slumber, who guards you.
{120:4} Behold, he who guards Israel will neither sleep, nor slumber.
{120:5} The Lord is your keeper, the Lord is your protection, above your right hand.
{120:6} The sun will not burn you by day, nor the moon by night.
{120:7} The Lord guards you from all evil. May the Lord guard your soul.
{120:8} May the Lord guard your entrance and your exit, from this time forward and even forever.

Efficacious repentance.
Every pang of repentance and suffering, every effort
18 for reform, every good thought and deed, will help us to
understand Jesus’ atonement for sin and aid
its efficacy; but if the sinner continues to pray
21 and repent, sin and be sorry, he has little part in the atonement,—
in the at-one-ment with God,— for he lacks the
practical repentance, which reforms the heart and enables
24 man to do the will of wisdom.

Section 3 – The Bible Psalm 12 (13)
{12:1} Unto the end. A Psalm of David. How long, O Lord? Will you forget me until the end? How long will you turn your face away from me?
{12:2} How long can I take counsel in my soul, sorrowing in my heart throughout the day?
{12:3} How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
{12:4} Look upon me and listen to me, O Lord my God. Enlighten my eyes, lest I fall asleep forever in death,

JOSEPH. A corporeal mortal; a higher sense of Truth rebuking mortal belief, or error, and showing the immortality and supremacy of Truth; pure affection blessing its enemies.

Section 4 – The Bible Psalm 120 (121)
{120:1} A Canticle in steps. I have lifted up my eyes to the mountains; from thence help will come to me.
{120:2} My help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
{120:3} May he not allow your foot to be moved, and may he not slumber, who guards you.
{120:4} Behold, he who guards Israel will neither sleep, nor slumber.

1 the miracle itself. The Psalmist sang: “What ailed
thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? Thou Jordan,
3 that thou wast driven back? Ye mountains,
that ye skipped like rams, and ye little hills,
like lambs? Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the
6 Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob.” The miracle
introduces no disorder, but unfolds the primal order,
establishing the Science of God’s unchangeable law.
9 Spiritual evolution alone is worthy of the exercise of
divine power.

Section 5 – The Bible Psalm 21 (22)

{21:1} Unto the end. For the tasks of early morning. A Psalm of David.
{21:2} O God, my God, look upon me. Why have you forsaken me? Far from my salvation are the words of my offenses.
{21:3} My God, I will cry out by day, and you will not heed, and by night, and it will not be foolishness for me.

“My God, why hast Thou forsaken me?”
9 This despairing appeal, if made to a human parent, would
impugn the justice and love of a father who could withhold
a clear token of his presence to sustain and bless so
12 faithful a son. The appeal of Jesus was made both to
his divine Principle, the God who is Love, and to himself,
Love’s pure idea. Had Life, Truth, and Love forsaken
15 him in his highest demonstration? This was a startling
question. No! They must abide in him and he in them,
or that hour would be shorn of its mighty blessing for the
18 human race.
Divine Science misunderstood
If his full recognition of eternal Life had for a moment
given way before the evidence of the bodily senses,
21 what would his accusers have said? Even
what they did say, — that Jesus’ teachings
were false, and that all evidence of their cor –
24 -rectness was destroyed by his death. But this saying
could not make it so.
The real pillory
The burden of that hour was terrible beyond human
27 conception. The distrust of mortal minds, disbelieving
the purpose of his mission, was a million
times sharper than the thorns which pierced
30 his flesh. The real cross, which Jesus bore up the hill
of grief, was the world’s hatred of Truth and Love. Not
the spear nor the material cross wrung from his faithful

1 lips the plaintive cry, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” It
was the possible loss of something more important than
3 human life which moved him, — the possible misapprehension
of the sublimest influence of his career. This
dread added the drop of gall to his cup.

Section 6 – The Bible Psalm 65 (66)

{65:3} Exclaim to God, “How terrible are your works, O Lord!” According to the fullness of your virtue, your enemies will speak lies about you.
{65:4} Let all the earth adore you and sing psalms to you. May it sing a psalm to your name.
{65:5} Draw near and see the works of God, who is terrible in his counsels over the sons of men.
{65:6} He converts the sea into dry land. They will cross the river on foot. There, we will rejoice in him.

Man not structural.
6 To measure intellectual capacity by the size of the
brain and strength by the exercise of muscle, is to
subjugate intelligence, to make mind mor9
tal, and to place this so-called mind at the
mercy of material organization and non-intelligent
matter.
