A #ChristianScience Rosary

The Rosary is an ancient tradition of reciting prayers on the beads or fingers. The origins are unclear, some say they came from the days when we could not read or write and had to count on our fingers, others say it has its roots on Buddhism or Islam. Either way it turned into a major devotion within the Catholic Church before the Reformation, they claimed it was revealed mysteriously to St Simon Stock.

Mrs Eddy had no time for ritual as in itself there is no purpose to it, however it can be redeemed because although the ritual has no power, carrying a set of beads or using them can remind us to direct our thoughts to prayer at every moment.

Prayers:

Begin with reciting the Scientific statement of Being with its correlative passage:

The scientific statement of being

There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.

From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 468:9–15

Its correlative passage

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

I John 3:1–3

Our Father which art in heaven, Our Father-Mother God, all-harmonious, Hallowed be Thy name. Adorable One.

Thy kingdom come. Thy kingdom is come; Thou art ever-present.

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Enable us to know, — as in heaven, so on earth, —

God is omnipotent, supreme. Give us this day our daily bread;

Give us grace for to-day; feed the famished affections;

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And Love is reflected in love;

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil; And God leadeth us not into temptation, but delivereth us from sin, disease, and death.

For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever.

For God is infinite, all-power, all Life, Truth, Love,

over all, and All.

From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy, pp. 16–17

Glory Be To The Father: Spiritual Interpretation

After every ten beads or “decade” you can say the following before starting the next decade

“Father is man’s divine Principle, Love. Son is God’s man —His image or spiritual likeness. Holy Ghost is Divine Science, the Messiah or Comforter. Jesus in the flesh was the prophet or wayshower to Life, Truth, and Love, and out of the flesh Jesus was the Christ, the spiritual idea, or image and likeness of God”.

From a Letter to Judge Hanna from Mrs Eddy

Using the Bible Lesson

You could incorporate the Bible Lesson into this by thinking of the subject or else a particular verse like the Golden Text.

Doing Watches.

A practice which seems to have been overlooked is that of doing “watches” where you focus on correcting your view of a specific topic.

You can use the Rosary by placing an affirmation of your corrected view in each section.
