CS Evening Prayer: 27 August 2018 #ChristianScience #MaryBakerEddy

Let my prayer be set forth in your sight as incense, the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice. Psalm 141:2

“Father is man’s divine Principle, Love. Son is God’s man —His image or spiritual likeness. Holy Ghost is Divine Science, the Messiah or Comforter. Jesus in the flesh was the prophet or wayshower to Life, Truth, and Love, and out of the flesh Jesus was the Christ, the spiritual idea, or image and likeness of God”.

From a Letter to Judge Hanna from Mrs Eddy

A Poem

Be gone ye terrors of the night,
unreal, sadness things of fright,
Always in my highest right
I live in Mind as Love´s delight.
No more power has the dream
of lonely suffering extreme
Always in my highest right
I live in Spirit, Love´s delight.
Stories, tales of lands explored
Mortal dreams of lands of yore
Always in my highest right
My life is Soul, as Love´s delight.
Left behind upon a shore
Death cannot touch, no , nevermore
Always in my highest right
In Principle, as Love´s delight.
Time honoured systems, fall from grace
Never more to be replaced
Always in my highest right
Living Life, as Love´s delight.
Sons and Daughters take the charge
When consumed by powers at large
Always in your highest right
Live in Truth, as Love´s delight!
Faced with sadness and despair
Silence foes with Silent Prayer
Always in your highest right
Live in Love, as Love´s delight!

Psalm 111

1 Hallelujah!
I will give thanks to the LORD with my whole heart, *
in the assembly of the upright, in the congregation.
2 Great are the deeds of the LORD! *
they are studied by all who delight in them.
3 Full of majesty and splendor is the work of the LORD, *
whose righteousness endures for ever.
4 Gracious and full of compassion is the LORD, *
whose marvelous works are to be remembered.
5 The LORD gives food to the God-fearing, *
ever mindful of the covenant.
6 The LORD has shown the chosen people works of power *
in giving them the lands of the nations.
7 The hands of the LORD work faithfulness and justice; *
all the commandments of the LORD are sure.
8 They stand fast for ever and ever, *
because they are done in truth and equity.
9 The LORD sent redemption to the chosen people,
commanding the covenant for ever; *
holy and awesome is the Name of the LORD.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; *
those who act accordingly have a good understanding;
the praise of the LORD endures for ever.

Psalm 112

1 Hallelujah!
Happy are they who fear the LORD *
and have great delight in his commandments!
2 Their descendants will be mighty in the land; *
the generation of the upright will be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches will be in their house, *
and their righteousness will last for ever.
4 Light shines in the darkness for the upright; *
the righteous are merciful and full of compassion.
5 It is good for them to be generous in lending *
and to manage their affairs with justice.
6 For they will never be shaken; *
the righteous will be kept in everlasting remembrance.
7 They will not be afraid of any evil rumors; *
their heart is right;
they put their trust in the LORD.
8 Their heart is established and will not shrink, *
until they see their desire upon their enemies.
9 They have given freely to the poor, *
and their righteousness stands fast for ever;
they will hold up their head with honor.
10 The wicked will see it and be angry;
they will gnash their teeth and pine away; *
the desires of the wicked will perish.

Psalm 113

1 Hallelujah!
Give praise, you servants of the LORD; *
praise the Name of the LORD.
2 Let the Name of the LORD be blessed, *
from this time forth for evermore.
3 From the rising of the sun to its going down *
let the Name of the LORD be praised.
4 High above all nations is the LORD, *
whose glory is above the heavens.
5 Who is like the LORD our God, who sits enthroned on high, *
but stoops to behold the heavens and the earth?
6 The LORD takes up the weak out of the dust *
and lifts up the poor from the ashes.
7 The LORD sets them with the nobles, *
with the nobles of the chosen people.
8 The LORD makes the woman of a childless house *
to be a joyful mother of children.

THE LESSON
Mark 6:1-6a (NRSV)

Jesus left that place and came to his hometown, and his disciples followed him. On the sabbath he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astounded. They said, “Where did this man get all this? What is this wisdom that has been given to him? What deeds of power are being done by his hands! Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary and brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon, and are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him. Then Jesus said to them, “Prophets are not without honor, except in their hometown, and among their own kin, and in their own house.” And he could do no deed of power there, except that he laid his hands on a few sick people and cured them. And he was amazed at their unbelief.

Canticle: The Song of Simeon, Spiritual Interpretation
Luke 2:29-32

Hail Father Mother,
In Fullness,
Ever With Us

Ever Blessing Man
with the Christ
Ever Present

Tender and Strong
With Grace for Today
Infinite Love and Power

Here, now

The scientific statement of being

There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all. Spirit is immortal Truth; matter is mortal error. Spirit is the real and eternal; matter is the unreal and temporal. Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual.

From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures
by Mary Baker Eddy, p. 468:9–15

Its correlative passage

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
